As you level up, you’ll discover new resources needed to upgrade devices and stations. Some resources can’t be mined directly and must be refined first. That’s where smelting comes in—you use smaller materials to create ingots of the same type. You can choose to sell these for money or refine them into higher quality items when you find certain resources.
